![]() Make sure the camera has been fully tested with your NVR/VMS. I wouldn't rely on ONVIF for compatibility though ONVIF can restrict some features on cameras. The other Axis cameras (M, P, Q series) will run on just about any NVR out there now. that are available on their other cameras. The Companion cameras are limited in features like varifocal lens, Zipstream, Lightfinder, etc. You can use normal Axis cameras on the Companion NVR as well, but the Companion cameras have a different firmware that is unrecognized by other NVR systems. The NVR and cameras are much cheaper, but the Companion cameras can only run on the Companion NVR. Which Axis cameras are you considering? They have a Companion line which is more of an entry level/budget line. Likewise, if you have a question yourself you should start your own topic, not attempt to derail from the OP's question by posting your own questions in the comments. While elaboration and further suggestions are generally okay, the point of comments should be to answer the OP's question not to change the topic to fit your personal preference/beliefs. If the poster is asking about cameras, simply posting that they should get a gun is not acceptable. As in, if a poster asks for suggestions about a hardwired alarm, simply answering to get a camera is not acceptable.
